Pre Deer Camp Day 1

We’re starting a new tradition of Pre Deer Camp as a way to enjoy the camaraderie of deer camp while building excitement for the coming season while getting help with some of the chores related to the season.

Thursday night we reviewed last September's camera data and compared it to this years movements. Today we set up for the evening's neighborhood deer coop meeting, then focused on preparing shooting lanes, setting up blinds and tweaking our archery equipment at the new home range.

In the deer camps, leases, hunting clubs of the Deep South, we called it Work Day.

Day two has us placing a new blind, cutting shooting lanes, checking out acorns, killing wasps and adding accessories such as hooks and shelves to the blinds. Psychologically, calling this deer camp makes more than a work day in this 99 degree weather according to the weather channel. Our thermometer shows the outside temp as 103.5 in the shade.

The white oaks look to be producing acorns well again.

Always nice to have the right piece of equipment available to help move heavy things.

Cutting shooting lanes with two people is much easier than one!

This five panel blind has five shooting lanes while maintaining good concealment.
The creek below the blind will help with thermals.
