Pound Apples?

Bowsnbucks

5 year old buck +
A couple farms in N. Pa. have what the locals call " pound apples ". They are just growing 1 or 2 trees on a farm from years ago. The apples are pretty big, greenish with a little red on them, maybe 5" or so dia. Anyone know of them, or maybe by another name?

Pound Sweet?

I think you nailed it Ed. Pound sweet. I looked on Boyer Nursery's site and they have a pic of the apple. The apples I remember from my aunt's farm look just like the Boyer's pic. Boyer even describes the growth habit - spreading. Ripens late Sept. - early Oct. My aunt used them for sauce & pies. Don't know how they'd be for a deer apple. Thanks gentlemen.
