I've been a mod/admin on large forums and "owned" a couple small niche forums. (and no I'm not telling Bill how to run the place) One thing never allowed was "I'm leaving" threads. Wanna go? Go. No grand gestures, virtue signaling, pity parties, I'm leaving, talk me out of it, you'll miss when I'm gone, etc etc. Always zapped them right off the bat and deactivated the account before they changed their mind. lol This isn't an airport, you don't need to announce your departure. Always say, if I decide to leave a place, you'll know it by my absence. Or possibly not notice at all. I don't think I'm so important I have to inform everyone I'm leaving.
I worked at a place that was like that. It was a machine shop. We all owned toolboxes filled with thousands of dollars worth of our own tools. Fired people were given their paycheck at lunch and expected to have their property off the premises immediately. They did not want freshly fired guys running around the shop spreading cancer. They also didn't not want unsupervised ex-employees coming in on a weekend "to get their toolbox" and possibly causing damage.
