Persimmon question

5 year old buck +
How long is recommended to leave a persimmon tree without fruiting before determining it is a male.I will leave some males but don't think I need multiples

Both the male and female should flower. If you examine the flower closely you'll be able to determine the sex.

It can take several years for both the males and females to start flowering if you are starting with small seedlings. Some might even take 10 years. Of course, you could graft before ever determining the sex if you wanted to do that. As stated above, you can tell looking at the flowers whether they are male or female.
