Permanent herd building insanity?

I’m already over it. I want to get on the saw and get busy sky busting.

SD, I'd let you come down and hunt the third weekend out of one of my blinds. Roll whichever critter trips your trigger. But I would prefer shooting bucks of any size. Nobody has hunted my land since opening weekend.

Too much else going on this year. New Greatgrandson, baptism, business ideas to get accomplished, downsize and move, yadda yadda. Digging my pond on Monday.

I do have lots of deer, but the big bucks seem mostly nocturnal. Hunting the timber in the daytime seems to be my new mantra.....and switchgrass borders are having a positive effect too. Bring a bag and you can sleep in my cabin. It's got heat and light via grid power. Blinds are heated. (I'll be in AZ....turn out the lights and lock the gate on your way out).

Appreciate the offer guy. I’ve got a nephew coming up third weekend. I’ve got to try to get him in front of a deer. It’s been a few years since he’s seen an antler.

Got a couple of blinds big enough for both of you. Four of em, with heat. I keep a folding chair in those four, for guests. Got a small refrigerator a coffee maker, big screen TV, and a microwave in the cabin. I will remove all the liquids by then....because it will go cold when we leave (or you leave). Got a sofa and a recliner to sleep in....not a Mariott.....but I have slept in worse. Your choice. Very good possibility to shoot a deer. Let me know if you change your mind. I'd give you the details on how to haul a deer with the UTV and more over the phone if you decide to come. Offer expires on Wed....as we Migrate to OZ on Thursday.

What a fantastic offer. Very kind of you. I think SD or any of us could really benefit from getting off the same 40 acres for once and checking out some other country. I passed a decent little 8 pt. buck about 1 hour into opening day knowing damn well that its likely the best deer I would see all year. I just did not want my season to end right away cause I am an explorer. I'm ok with eating my tag for about the 10th+ year in a row.

I really enjoy checking out new to me habitat that are far off the beaten path. My brother in law and I took a canoe across the Mississippi river and up another river to a very remote hunting spot last week. He saw a couple deer and I busted one out but did not see it, only heard it. Even though we didn't kill anything it was one of the best and most peaceful hunts I have ever been on. Near complete solitude among some very scenic country. Very fun just to look at some different real estate and find the sign. I get awful sick of hunting the same place more than a few times.

I really like exploring new terrain and new places. Getting hard for me to walk or do lots of strenuous walking or boating....but I like cruising some backroads in my UTV just to see some back-country sites and nature. Between your place and mine is a huge wilderness area that has lots of forest trails. Bad thing is....is prime wolf habitat now. A few weeks ago, I took two other guys and we drove some new trails that took us to Stewart Lake. An un-spoiled lake with lots of great sites along the, and I'm told is a great place to go fishing. Not sure how the few cabin owners got to their cabins in the past.....Fly in? But that is one of the more bueatiful and unspoled lakes this far south. If I were a younger guy.....I'd be looking for property to buy. I tried to get to Stewart lake in time gone by with my snowmobile and a compass. Never made it. Lots easier now with trails and a GPS. Times are changing.

Grid power cannot be far behind. Grin.

It's farther off than it's ever been now. My neighbor told me the power company is going to jack rates in a big way in 2026. I asked him where he heard about it, but he hasn't responded yet. The dividend from Dogwood Power is going up bigly if that happens.

I checked the public utilities commission, the coop site, and the news for something in print but couldn't find anything.
