Paul Tree

As a new "regular" here I just ran across this thread. I knew nothing of Paul or who he was when I first stumbled a crossed his postings a few years ago. He has obviously had a great impact on many of you. When I received my Paul tree with my very first order I felt privileged, so much so that I potted it at my home and kept careful watch over it. It has done so well that I was able to transfer it to a permanent location at my land and as of this past July it is doing quite well. I will have to take a current pic of it when I get u there next. Thank you for my Paul tree. What a special way to pay it back.

Funny you posted yesterday. My Paul tree is a bit smaller than expected. Had it in a root maker this whole time. (2 years) I cut it back to ground level this spring. Just planted it in its new home yesterday. Its in a wet corner of a food plot in Jersey. About four feet tall now but the root maker did its job and I expect it to be 10 foot plus by next summer.

dsinwi - Paul Knox was an EXCELLENT guy on these forums and helped anyone who had a question about habitat, farming, plots, etc. His knowledge should be kept alive and available on this and some other forums. What a decent human being !! God rest him.

I am scanning through LickCreek section and found this post, I couldn't stop reading through and I am curious how the Paul Tree's are doing, anyone have updates?

FWIW, I don't have a Paul tree, but I do have a small section of native prairie that I planted in memory of Paul several years ago. (I received the seed as a part of a fund raiser for Paul at the time.) It is doing fine and I think of Paul often. He and I were friends, I am able to say that I knew him before he "got big". :)

In fact, some of the pictures in his many threads were taken at my farm, as my farm was pretty near where Paul lived. For several years, Paul maintained two places and I was pretty much in between the two farms. He would stop by my place sometimes and perform food plot work when he was going between his two places with the tractor/drill/etc. I miss him, he was a great man a good friend to many.

He is a bit of a legend - beyond that in fact! The new guys and gals will only get to know a small part of who he is/was if they dig up old posts.
We lost a lot when he passed - someone you cant measure or put a value on, huge loss. He was - a wealth of information and a super giving guy... loved to share his passions and knowledge with everyone he met. Very few people leave footprints as big as his! RIP dbtree!
I miss him too - a friend to everyone. I can only imagine what his daily post would be today if he was with us
