Farmer gave me 100#s of ryegrass instead of winter rye. Broadcasted it into new 1 acre ladino plot last week. Now what?

stock up on cleth!

Will the rye grass actually choke out the clover?

Yes. Hope for many turkeys and birds to come and eat it. I am still trying to kill off some I planted from ignorance in my food plot from 3 years ago.

Looks like winter rye to me as well

Winter rye.

Thanks guys, I lost sleep over nothing I guess. I planted wr last fall and had great results. Hoping the same for this yr.

Nothing to lose sleep over, and honestly for some reason I have planted both together in a pinch and for some reason deer prefer the plots with ryegrass and winter rye in the same plot vs. straight winter rye. I mean don't get me wrong, winter rye has better management properties And for some ryegrass can be invasive. Deer do eat it though and cleth would take care of it in the spring if needed.

To me the reddish tint at the base of the plant says its cereal rye - but that's just my opinion.

same thing happened to me in feb of this year ...i had to gly it and start over

Looks like winter rye to me. Red tint on stem equals rye
