nothing wrong with that. I mow mine with my brothers tractor but wouldn't have a problem walking behind a DR If thats all I had access to. For a plot up to half an acre it isnt going to take that much time to mow no matter what you use.

It claims 6' high grass and 2.5" saplings, I tried it out and it walks through 3' high grass no problem haven't tried saplings yet but it feels like a tank.

I have the 14 HP model. It’s a great machine. I use it for mowing roads, creating access trails through the woods, mowing my food plots and clearing new ground. Mine handles 2 inch saplings but I honestly try to not do too many over an inch or an inch and a half. Why beat up the machine even if it will do it. If it’s two inches I use a chain saw. The DR is easily my best purchase for habitat work to date. You made a good choice!

I forget what HP model we have at camp, got it about 10 yrs ago, but it eats 2 inch saplings like a fat kid eats ice cream on a hot day LOL
it does make you a little nervous when its eating , as it can spitr pieces out and they do bounce back at times and again why I said above,
and will say again,
wear safety gear using this thing!
one thing we use it for is on very SOFT muddy area's too soft to drive a tractor on, its been very handy for that type of work

I like it! I usually just walk mine to where I’m going but I’m gonna look into that. My trailer should work easily for mine too. Thanks for the idea!

My original plan was to use it for trails to stands and through our switch but I tried it the other day on some overgrown clover plots and it works great.

How high are you able to cut with it? I’ve heard different schools of thought on heights for clover I just assumed the dr would cut it too short? Maybe I’m wrong. I’m probably wrong haha.

The cutting height is 3.5", I don't believe it is too short for cutting clover.

Good to know. Only clover I’ve used were in mixes hence all my questions about specifically clover. I was under the assumption that clover was usually cut back between 6-8 inches. I thought going to short would “Damage” a plot. Either way looks like your new equipment is doing some work over there! Looks great

I tend to cut my clover the way I fertilize, I only do it if I know there is rain coming soon.

Looks great. Looks like a hell of a place you have there. I follow and read all of the “land tour” threads since joining. It’s been a lot of reading but once I start I can’t stop. I like seeing what guys are doing and the results. So much information to be had here with an excellent member base.
