My first apple

Picked my first apple today. It was a Zestar and it was delicious. There were only 4 apples on this tree, and this one ripened much quicker than the others, I'm guessing due to the big Apple Scab spot on it. I had to cut out roughly 1/3 of the apple due to the scab spot.

Zestar! are seriously my favorite apple to eat. Better than honeycrisp! They will be ripe here at my local MN orchard very, very soon!

SE Michigan here, surprisingly found one apple on a tree yesterday that I grafted over to Zestar! in 2012. Surprising because I thought the bluejays and woodpeckers got all of them off the tree. It was perfectly ripe. What a twang! And an interesting candy apple taste, they sure are good! If I get a good bloom next year I may experiment with bird netting on this 25 foot tree - I think they are worth it.
