For pear trees in my zone, I would recommend

Cummins number one pick for me was Flemish Beauty. I planted 5 different varieties recommended for my place and all of them had severe winter die back/bark cracking last winter. They did all start new growth above the graft this year and caught up to where they were last year.

We had about 25 days below zero but a couple of those were -30 ish.
