^ I wonder........IF MDDI would make a "generic" flyer like this without even a name........and areas to "fill in the blanks" with names and contact information.......would this facilitate a means for folks to start their own local co-ops?
I've never heard so much talk of co-ops as I have in the past year or three.......maybe the time is here? What other things could be done to facilitate folks in starting a co-op?
(maybe I should start a deer co-op foundation with dues and a banquet.....and draw a big salary with lots of perks as the president? :D Works for some organizations. ;) It could supplement my income from doing the rain dances. )
This is awesome. It may inspire me to put something together myself and see if I can get any interest from my neighbors. I can also put it on the windshield of trucks of hunters that may be hunting in the area as well.
I am not against fighting the machine - butt hat is going to take time. You might as well take the situation into your own hands in the meantime if you can.
Perhaps such an co-op of co-op's idea could takes legs. Maybe some good seed, fertilizer and lime collective buying could be the common thread.....as well as a few speakers and such? Not sure why to organize beyond that point?
Isn't this what QDMA is about....except for dues and a banquet?
I saw a cousin this past weekend who lives up on the Iron Range, <10 miles south of Mt Iron and Virginia and does a lot of hunting. I hadn't seen him for a couple years and he said they started a bit of am informal coop a couple years ago. His wife is from the Sebeka area so he had heard about Hillview Management a few years ago and said "why can't we do that?". He said he saw 19 deer (including repeats) during rifle season in permit area 178, a bucks only area. He ended up shooting a nice 10 pt this past year.
If Maile will get me the original I can post its on the MDDI site as a download where guys can fill in any banks and change info if the like. Be an easy thing to print and put in local bait/archery/gun/pub etc for guys to grab and get going.
Wisc - Ok I made a typo, but it still worked! They can be butt hat's for sure. I would normally fix it - because I hate errors, but it's a funny one so I'll let it slide!
I like the co-op of co-ops idea as well. Sharing costs and even sharing what the experiences have been could really be helpful.
Next thing you know the DNR will try to create some rule against co-op's!
