Almost $60 for a 1.25" caliper tree seems pretty steep to me. I've seen 6'+ tall trees with about a 1" caliper for sale locally for about $50. Get them on sale in another week or two for around half that price ;)

Honeycrisp would not be my choice for deer. I've tried them. Plant a tree that demands less care if you are like me. (Lazy)

We are to close to the cities to see any real sales on apple trees. As you see in the prices at this auction. Seems like a guy has to drive 100 miles to get any deals.

Plant a bare root m118 5/8" caliper and in 2 years it will be larger then those .

Plant some of both. I gave my uncle a chestnut crab for his 80th b'day and he harvested many crabs from it. I think he lived to 95 or 96.
