Turkeys?

The season ended less than 24 hours ago and the harvest report is done????

Hmmmm. Way to go MN.... Wow. Another feather in the management cap of our DNR. They probably need time to play with numbers.

My thoughts exactly!

How does MO register, is it electronic? If so a fast report would be possible. If you have to go to a reg. station I don't see how they could get the report this fast.

Electronic for the most part now. But there are a few old timers bringing there big bucks in to the local gas station.

How cool is that!?! State of the art and efficient. Missouri govt. leaders and employees should be given a slap on the back and a big " at-a-boy."

One of the best run states for deer and deer management in my opinion.

Quick, yes. Misleading, quite. Who would list the opening weekend total kill and then the total season kill on that chart the way they did? That chart is skewed, I'm sure the individual numbers are accurate enough, but they need to learn how to make graphs and charts better. Add the totals across the bottom line and tell me what you come up with? WTF? Either don't include the opening weekend kill numbers(irrelevant and no one cares) or don't add them to the kill numbers for the remaining gun season, most of all, don't double dip them in your totals at the bottom. Hillbilly math I guess?

Its fricken Missouri, when a bridge washes out they don't fix them they make you drive around the back way!

Dam lucky we got any numbers!

You mean they don't put up a huge berm for you to jump over it like they do in Georgia? Or does that only apply if your driving an old Mopar?

They do. but most times they wash away as well!;)

I thought that was being polite, I was thinking much worse. ;) Kudos to the MDC for trying to get the info out in a timely fashion I guess and double kudos to them for their efforts in managing a quality deer herd(among the many other things they do well, the turkey hunting comes to mind), it just looks like they could use a bit more Excel training before they go throwing graphs around. Then again, maybe not, I'm sure MoBuck and a host of others would rather have them spending their time on deer related stuff instead of learning to make pretty graphics with their computers, which it seems like all to many other DNR's are more concerned with than the things they should be concentrating on.

Missouri is very PRO active, not RE active when it comes to a Million/Billion dollar industry like hunting in there state. Mn should take some lessons!

With you being a graph master and all I would have thought you would have caught it right away! lol But yeah, I suppose you were more in awe of the fact that those numbers were actually available to the public just days after the hunt closed down as opposed to getting them after a month of "stroking". Fire starter or a$$wipe depending on what type of paper they are printed on, but in the end just as meaningless.

Who the hell wouldn't be in AWE coming from MN?

I didn't mean with the numbers, they speak for themselves. I was referring to the timely info that was presented to the public without all the smoke and mirrors and a dog and pony show.

So was I!

Indiana puts out a great harvest report with lots of details, but our season isn't over yet and it takes time for them to crunch the numbers and put the report together. That is one thing I really like that my DNR does. I can't prove they don't massage the numbers but I have no reason to suspect them of it either. Last years report was 16 pages with pretty pictures and graphs and number broken down in all sorts of different ways.

If your curious, I obviously can't post it here, but if anyone is interested in what our report looks like I can send you the .pdf file.
