Another option is metal conduit like you see in that picture. We use 10' as recommended by some others on this forum. You have to be careful of rocks when pounding it in as it can bend. Make sure to order some aglok, the stuff is great.

I was at my hunting camp this past weekend and a couple crabs that are in the ground 3 years this spring are full of blossoms. All SLN trees on Antonovka - All-Winter-Hangover, Centennial, and Dolgo. Trees are about 7' to 9' tall now. Hoping for a few apples !!
