Marijuana use by deer

The irrigated field next to my 80 is planted to weed. Any experience with deer use?

Go ahead and post your jokes as well, but this is a serious question.

I can enjoy the jokes!

No idea, Bur. ---- I've never seen a live pot plant ............ anywhere. No frame of reference here. If we discover deer lounging around and eating bags of Doritos & Tostitos, we'll know they found some pot!!! 🤣

Deer eat young fresh stuff, but not so much mature. Are they growing marijuana or hemp? If it's for the giggles, that can be bad for your hunt. People are regularly in the field as well as tractors dealing with weeds, fertilizing ,etc. Not like corn or beans, a few sprayer or spreaders there a day here n there.

Could help your hunt, keep deer on your property more.

Likely its hemp. Probably wont be too tall where deer can hide in it like corn. Most is like hip high from what I have seen in NY.

Stuff stinks...... Even the folks who like the smell / taste of it get sick of the smell.

It would be a good year to A game your food plot. You'll get alot of activity from the loss of seclusion next door as well as the loss of a good food source. Trespassing might be on the up in the area.......

Dilute molasses in warm water and spray it all over the pot plants. The next morning you might find some woozy deer stumbling around your property.

I am not sure if hemp or MJ. I have not been up there for about 6 weeks.

I no longer do any foodplotting up there and actually haven’t hunted there for about three years due to multiple reasons.

Thanks, guys.

One neighbor said hemp, one saidMJ.

Nope. Deer don't eat M J. Cows yes. Deer no. At least based on my 50 years experience
I once had a sick beef cow that I just couldn’t quite come up with a diagnosis. She was a pet and followed the family around. Finally they told me that over the weekend they were cutting MJ out of their small pasture and she was right by them and eating.

That story is probably 50 years old and I had forgotten about it until I saw your post.

I seem to remember they were even burning the plants.

That would be an odd thing to witness - a cow that ate MJ. Did the cow recover from its symptoms?

I occasionally see a little ditch weed growing along the RR tracks when high-railing used to be quite a bit growing up in St Paul-Minneapolis along the tracks.

Neighbors generally have no idea.

I had neighbors tell me I was planning on setting up a rifle range on my land. And they said I was planning on setting up a campground for profit on my land.

Both were wrong.

I’d be pretty surprised if they where growing fields of MJ that wasn’t for hemp use I think the other stuff is under much tighter growing conditions in large warehouses but I could be wrong on this.

After the government decided they would be everyone's drug dealer I don't think there's much of a market for a do it yourself type of operation. They have high tech facilities to grow stuff that you can overdose on now. It's ok though, the government is the one who is making the money from pot so it's now ok for people to do it. jmo

Legalization getting rid of criminal orgs is the biggest scam ever perpetrated on this country. It only set the black market on fire by increasing demand exponentially.

Chinese criminal trafficking organizations are growing indoor weed at massive scale especially in Southern California and Oklahoma. Semi trailer loads of weed, not 50 pounds at a time. They use illegal immigrants as slave labor to grow and tend the grows, the illegals are trying to pay off the debt they incurred getting into the country and it’s like credit card debt. Can never be paid off. By the way, the Mexican cartels got richer getting Chinese nationals across the border too. Thanks Joe!

The massive profits fund other criminal activity, but nothing is done about it because “it’s only weed”. The money they make with weed fuels the fentanyl/meth trade which is EXACTLY what the Sinaloa Cartel did to fund the transportation of cocaine into the U.S. when they took over transportation from the Columbian cartels in the late 80’s.

So the profits the Chinese make pays Chinese nationals whose businesses are in China but they want to spend money in the U.S. Here is roughly how that works. Fent and meth precursors are manufactured in China. They are shipped to Mexico. The money isn’t shipped back to China, because after all industry in China isn’t really a private company, it’s the CCP. (Like Tic Toc). That money can’t be spent in China without it going to the CCP. So the meth and fent is made in Mexico and shipped into the U.S. It is distributed to big cities. The distributors pay the cartels. THEN the money doesn’t go back to Mexico or China, it gets laundered here or funneled into crypto and into legit banks where it is wired to bigger banks in the U.A.E. and Saudi etc. The laundered money ultimately gets spent here by the Chinese businessmen to send their kids to American universities (Sound familiar?) and to buy property (Sound familiar?) and buy luxury lifestyles here in the U.S.

The Chinese government initially allowed this because the china based chemical companies did get paid, it was mildly profitable. What they came to realize was how destabilizing the drug trade is for our country. That’s what they became to truly value. And they understand that they are at war with us even though we don’t seem to understand that.

So- what are all the things the dems got wrong here? (And republicans buy into on a few levels)

Legalization. Set the black market on fire. The “neighborhoods victimized by the war on drugs” didn’t start legal cannabis dispensaries. They stayed on the criminal side of the fence because of the regulations and taxes that prevented entry to the market. In my area the biggest beneficiary was the local Budweiser distributor that had a license to print money already and wasnt going to miss the chance to make more.

Pretending that drug offenders are “non-violent” and legalizing would stop the shooting, stealing, burglarizing and breeding more losers.

Pretending that cannabis users in prisons were there for merely possessing a ziplock bag of the devils lettuce. No, they are there for duffel bags minimum. In my state there were MORE people in prisons for shoplifting offenses (“Retail Theft”) than cannabis offenses.

Open borders. Created a flow of Chinese illegals who came here to be victimized. CREATED slavery.

All the nonsense that goes with it.

And worst of all? The Culture Of Non-compliance that Obama fanned the flames of.
