Man cave wall siding options

I have found out that Walnut does make some pretty decent fire pit wood. Burns well and good heat. The above trees are currently too small to be worth anything to a commercial logger.
 
Well now I know. Next owner can mess with them!

My aunt has a wood burning furnace. She loves when I find a crooked little walnut to cut up for her.

It splits real easy as well.
 
Dawgs, we like cutting them that size and making little taxidermy plaques. These turned out a little small, but it's all I have in my phone and you get the idea. Can also cut on an angle and make it look like bwoods walleye in post #12.

I made a beautiful vanity out of walnut. I’m also in the process now of making a couple of hall benches. The problem with walnut is they are very slow growers. Last to get their leaves and first to drop them.
 
The heartwood of walnut is beautiful, but that outer, whiter sapwood has no aesthetic value. Trees need more years to grow - 15 to 20 maybe - if they get plenty of sunlight and reduced competition close to them.
 
Agreed! and the sapwood in walnut seems to be larger than other woods. I am making a hall bench that is close to 12" wide of heartwood, Don't get to see that too often these days.
