This is especially poignant to me because I live in Europe. I hate to be "the arrogant American", but at the same time I cannot abide the wilful ignorance of history people here have. They are constantly whining about American gun policy, healthcare, military, etc., and I have to remind them that all those things are exactly what allow modern Europe to exist as it does. Luckily I manage to keep a good sense of humor about it. One of my favorite jokes is:
Me (to a Norwegian): "Hey do you speak German?"
Norwegian: "No."
Me: "You're welcome."
