Leaning apple tree

Finally got around to staking this tree up straighter. Used a long landscaping stake and had a ratchet strap lying around and some cut pipe for around the tree. Not quite as soft as a hose but I think it should work…here’s hoping that tree straightens out!IMG_9776.jpeg

I'm guessing from the circle of thicker leaves around your tree, that you changed the concrete mesh cage for that smaller fence on it now? I see the screen on the lower section of trunk - good move. Nice work growing that tree to the size it is. You should see a lot of blossoms & fruit on some of your trees now. After about 3 or 4 years in the ground, they seem to really take off.

Yep switched the remesh cage out for the smaller one..the bigger cage is needed elsewhere and I have a couple of those longer skinnier cages for my bigger trees…hoping this one gets some fruit this year its a chestnut crab on M7 that has been in the ground for 4 years and has yet to give me any fruit!! Thanks for the tip on the window screen trunk protection! I had a screen fall off in a big wind and the rabbits were quick to pounce!

I had one apple tree leaning pretty good and one that the wind toppled over. I brought up 2 big rocks that were big enough that I had to push because I couldn't lift them with my excavator. Put 1 rock right up to the tree and pushed the rocks until the trees were straight as possible and left the rocks in place for now. I'll give it 2 or 3 years and take out the rocks if the trees will stay up on their own. My trees were not nearly as big as the one you have leaning.

I would couple that with a good prune. Like 1/2 or maybe a little more of the past years growth. What I read about M7 some stay they need to be staked some say not. More no stake vs staked.

Got a sundance on M7 and gave a enterprie on M7 as a gift. They run out of the gate hard. Might of been my best tree. It is closest to the food plot, so It might be on the best soil past where I ammend the digging hole.

I got a chesnut this past year, didnt put on much this year. On m111.
