Late fruit tree planting

A local nursery is having a sale and I couldn't pass up a deal. I picked up 2 liberty and 2 Arkansas Black for $10 a piece. They are in 7 gallon container so pretty good size. Obviously they are already leafed out and had blooms.

Little late to be planting trees now but like I said I didn't want to pass up a deal. My question is are there any special considerations planting this late? Should I prune when I plant this weekend or wait till next year to prune?

Should I just buy some larger containers and and switch then plant when they are dormant?

Thanks for any advice.

I would plant and not trim but keep them watered very well. Better they are in ground than. In container. If it's too hot maybe wait a bit until cooler spell but if you can keep them watered the heat will be good for them

They should be fine in the ground as was said if you make sure they stay watered. You could also use a couple T-posts and a scrap piece of plywood to give them a bit of shade in the afternoon.

Yep, potted trees you should be fine. Like others have said water well and don't prune.

Good thought!! Thanks. Mid 90's all next week in the forecast.

Water a lot of possible several times a week.

I'm planning on doing the same with a few pear trees I just picked up. They're container trees and, being located in AL and the property 2 hours away, would prefer to grow them at home this summer in current pots/ containers or whatever then transplant this fall. Any particular advice for getting them through summer? Is there a preferred pot/ size to hold them in until fall? Bought them today
