I hope this is a helpful tip/idea... In talking with some old time grafters they all keep their knives beyond ninja sharp. I gleaned this tip a while back and though i would pass it on. Homemade Leather Strops... I use a fine polishing compound - some guys use jewelers rouge....Also on the smoothest leather strop (not the suede side) the back side is left natural and with no compound as a final polish. You can really get a knife beyond razor sharp - like scary sharp and it is easy to just tune the knife back up periodically.
