Interesting native plant. Apparently it gets big fast and deer do it eat. I have no experience with it but it is interesting. People can eat it and it tastes like potatoes when cooked. Not related to artichoke and Not from Jerusalem. My wife said she knows what it is and has always wanted to try it. Bill, let us know how it grows!
Alright, now I am going to plant some. Seems like it is cold tolerant, native, grows like a weed, deer eat it, grows tall and thick for cover and it provides flowers for pollinators. Disadvantages? What’s not to like? What am I missing? It is another native to add for groceries on the ground.Preferred summer browse on my place. Must cage to grow.
giving this another try
I planted 6 tubers that I ordered on eBay into 1 gal RB II rootmaker pots yesterday
