Thanks. All my bearing trees are Chinese but I do have just a few young Dunstans.
5 or 6 of my trees are 13 years old.
I have another 15 or so that range between 4 and 10 years old. Nearly all are loaded this year.
The Japanese Beetles have really been hard on the leaves of some trees this year. It seems to me that they prefer the youngest trees but will also hit the older ones. Apples have been hit pretty hard too but still a decent crop. Japs don't seem the least bit interested in pears....

I started seeing the first nuts on the Chinese at about 4 years old. By the time they are 7 or 8, it would be what I call significant. I should have taken pictures of some of the larger trees. I will try to remember to do that next time I'm over there and post them for you.
Very nice Native! This is my first year with nut pods on my Dunstans, a couple are loaded but the pods are small so I think they are just teasing me this year. I had trouble early summer with jap beetles on my cherries and hazelnuts.
This is one of the biggest chestnut trees on my place. I set these about 13 years ago. This tree was not trained to a central leader and is a sprawling tree that takes up a lot of space. It makes a massive amount of nuts. It is surrounded by other trees so hard to get a good pictures but I think you can see pretty well.
Native - Is there anything you DON'T have growing there ?? !! Brother - you've got the bases covered !! That chestnut looks great. Congrats on a really cool place.
