In general, what should I be spraying?

I know this can be quite complex, but what at minimal should I be spraying on my young apple trees? A fungicide and insecticide? I'd like to help my trees as much as possible

I'm no expert, but I use captan and imidan, as some guys here suggested. Simple and effective.

Where do I get this? How much and how often do I apply?

I don't spray much, insecticide primarily. Last year I did a dormant oil spay in early spring and then occasional sevin for aphids and Japanese beetles. I missed dormant oil this spring. I've had a powdery mildew issue in my nursery and I have tried sulfur spray. Not sure how well that is working yet.

I think a good idea is to look up the state ag extensions for their info. That will give you the options and education on what you are trying to control and when it is needed. lnsects , fungal, and bacterial pests. "Integrated Pest Management" - IPM

I picked up some of this at lowes. Anyone ever try it?IMG_6807.JPGIMG_6808.JPG

I used that this year, but didn't know enough to spray before I already had apple scab. Once I started spraying it kept it under control, so I didn't have any leaves get bad enough to drop off the trees. And new leaves growing after I started spraying were unaffected.

Didn't seem to be the greatest insecticide though. I had a bunch of Rose Chafer beetles. Spraying would take care of the ones present at the time, but more would be back in less than a week. I thought it should last longer. Picked up some liquid Sevin, but can't compare yet as the beetles have run their course and are done now.
