How long does your taxidermist take?

I’m pushing 17 months. Getting annoyed. I was told less than a year when I dropped it off.

Usually a year give or take a couple months. I'd be getting antsy as well.

Anywhere from 6 to 18 months but I don't always use the same guy, so that's why the variability. I get itchy after 12 months too.

What's the charge for you guys? Seems the factory guys charge less and get them out faster. The better ones around here are in the 800-1000 range and take longer. Something for everyone.

I think this was around $700? Place has a great rep. Won some awards at nwtf so not a fly by night operation.

My taxidermist likes to get them out before next year's start coming in. He does say a lot of it depends on the lead time from the tannery.

Around 9 months and the current price is around $700 for a shoulder mount.

It helps that they are an avid hunter and want to enjoy their season as much as anyone.

$650-800 seems to be the going rate here, with a few creeping towards $1,000.

I've also been told the lead times on capes have been increasing, which pushes out the timing.

Dawg, 17 months? I'd have to pay him/her a visit, see what's up. $400-$800 here. Last 3 my son mounted had them back to him within 6 months. Same guy, single guy doing his thing, just making a living.
Only had 2 fish mounted, both by a reputable company, and both took well over a year.. I'd about forgotten about them until UPS showed up one day.
There was another country guy in our area years ago doing mounts for cheap, job nicely done, and he got popular pretty quick. Then, word got out that some clients racks, in his possession, were 'lost'. Last I heard, he had sold some of them, and got caught by the wildlife dept.
Do you go with the good ole boy, who'd you'd love to support his living, and get a mount back fairly quick and pay a low amount? Or, go with the company, taking twice as long, charging a lot more?
I'm still going to roll the dice with the single guy, and do the deal on handshake.
