Honey Crisp.....

5 year old buck +
Are they like the slowest growing tree that everyone else has. Last year my graft on M7 put on like 2 inches of growth. Its a late waker upper too. The 1 out of 2 I grafted successfully this year is painfully slow also. The one this year is on G30 so it'll be interesting to compare.

Not slow growers at all for me, but yes, they do wake up later in the spring than most. Right now they are mostly first pink and everything else is full to King bloom.... if I had a king! ;)

I've got HC's on B118, B9, M7, MM111, G16 and G41, all grow moderately well. 2"?? Something is off, the graft, soil, light or water.

M7 Honeycrisp around early/mid June of 2010. Planted as slightly feathered / 5/8's" in mid April..... Pretty typical to get a couple feet per year, maybe more.

Ok fine, I burned w/ Bonide on accident in June last year, I threw away my bonide after that. :)

Honeycrisp has not done well for me.
I attended an app[le growers meeting about two falls back. The speaker felt that about half of HC did not do well for some reason. They were not entirely winter hardy and the next HC tree on the same rootstock would be fine.

Sounds like poor soil or location, as a guess. I usually get 24-36" of growth on honeycrisp the first two years, even with the smaller rootstocks.

Looks great Maya! My soil PH as normal would be about 5.2 as I have foot plot not far away and its the same sandy soil. I plant my trees in a few bags of cow manure compost though. Like I said I burned it with bonide and it did not like it. This spring so far its growing just fine.
