Help...boric acid for creeping charlie

I wasn't sure where to post this.
There was some discussion on this forum (I believe) about fighting Creeping Charlie with boric acid. Am I remembering correctly?

I had the CC in my yard well under control up until the last couple years when I backed off the chemicals. Now it's thick again. I may have to try some of this stuff. In the past I used weed b gon max and added some clover/oxalis killer to the mix.

I guess my chore to apply Borax to my CC got lost on my to-do list and now here we are in the season of weeds, plots and herbicides.
I never really understood how Borax worked with CC. Is it best used as a preventative/pre-emergent or its it effective on emerged and established CC?
