Okay, for starters, the title is clickbait. There is no event BUT I would love to spark up a conversation. I’m a frequent of many forums that have informally scheduled meetups and/or scheduled joint hunting trips together.
HabitatTalk casts a far wider geographical berth from than those I’m speaking of, but I think it would still be an interesting idea nonetheless. I feel like in some very small way I’ve gotten to know a little bit about a few of you out there.
I am wondering if there any interest amongst you all where we could help coordinate out of state hunting trips together. For clarification, I’m not expecting anyone to host an internet stranger to their own back forty to shoot a target buck. However, I think we could help one another out with some local information & such to help each other out to coordinate a chance at a successful (or just fun) hunting trip at a reasonable cost as opposed to spending thousands for a professional outfitter.
For example, I have access to many landowners whom collectively own many thousands of acres of ~decent~ PA whitetail, bear, and turkey hunting. I could easily get some private access on someone’s behalf to hunt a location (probably for free) if they’d be interested. Also, I have plenty of local knowledge of tens of thousands of acres of public land that I could point someone toward & help with some of the logistics to do so. Shoot, I’d be happy to point you to a good local watering hole nearby and come down to cover your first couple rounds! You likely wouldn’t be hunting record class deer on managed properties, but a fun and affordable out of state hunt nonetheless. Truthfully, I like the hunting-camp atmosphere more than hunting itself in many regards.
This may have already been done, and if so I apologize if I missed it. I think this forum has a great community atmosphere & I think it would be a fun opportunity to help one another coordinate a memorable trip. I’d happily point a few of you to an opportunity at some PA deer turnkey or bears if someone wants to put me on some wild pheasants or something
