Growing willows in floating styrofoam

I saw this on Facebook and don’t know how to post the link. Perhaps someone can help me.

It was under Global Regina. A gentleman in Canada is starting and growing willows in those styrofoam boxes that come with tree plugs from Itasca Greenhouse or similar places.
Evidently he just floats them in water for long periods.

I've been thinking about trying that with ROD for a long time, just never tried.

I would put willows in every other cube and willow tea in the bottom of the container.

Last year I started ROD cuttings in pots of soil and set them and some elderberry in a plastic box with holes about 2” up the sides. I kept a bit of water in the box all summer, and by fall had about a dozen of each to transplant. All leafed out, and only 3-4 died during the heat of the summer. I set the box under a maple tree in the yard so they only received morning and evening sunlight.
