Got Elk?

Angus 1895

5 year old buck +
Woke up two days after archery season closed. Overslept big time.

Lots of trees to plant.

My wife could hear a bull bugling in my neighbors hayfield.

Got my binoculars, rangefinder, 284 model 88. Drank my coffee waited for shooting light.

Rode my e bike to the public land above the field.

The bull was really strutting his stuff!

Finally got a 300 yard shot at a 2.5 year old dry cow. Freehand shot as when they were where I could use the fence they were skylined. A stray bullet would have gone down the lemhi valley……..not good!

I hit the sweet spot, actually thought I missed as the herd milled about.

Got back on them, the Bull actually challenged me ………kept coming.

Could not talk myself into shooting at one.

Lucky me, because the cow was lying a mere 30 paces from where I left my binoculars

my hat marks where my binoculars were………can you see her?

Good eating!
I like your mule and the jeep too!
I'll trade you my sako for it!😁

What bullet are you using in the .284?

150 NP…….I hit her in the upper caudal scapula. It didn’t have the pathogonomic thwack that I hear when using my 300 savage,3006 or 8x57. But I also don’t hit that sweet very often!

Sorry I ain’t trading the Jeep. It’s been in the family since 1960.

The mule is my wife’s, and she is left eye dominant.
