Well, about 3 years ago (when I first entered into the habitat world) I bought 28 acres in NH.
I ordered some persimmon trees (American) as well as chestnuts, oaks, apples, crabapples etc. Here is where I was an idiot:
I ordered 2 Fuyu persimmon trees thinking they will help pollinate the American persimmons. Well, they don’t cross pollinate with American persimmons. They are from Asia, so that was dumb. Also apparently they are not as attractive for deer so that was also dumb. I do have several native American persimmons so I think those will be ok and I also learned Fuyu will self-pollinate.
Anyway, the trees were not shipped when I ordered in 2024 because they were “out of stock “ they finally shipped them this month and they arrived yesterday. I opened the package and found instead of 2 there was 5. So I planted 5 fuyu persimmons today.
Question: How big of an idiot am i? Will these attract deer if they grow? Thanks for listening.
