Freezing weather during shipping

I have two pear trees coming from Georgia this week probably in the 3-4 foot range grown and shipped in little containers . They were supposed to ship out Monday , but for some reason they didn't get shipped out until yesterday (Thursday). Now of course it's been a fairly mild winter with a few cold days and nights but nothing extreme. However just my luck Toinight it's very windy and supposed to get down in the 20's and my trees according to tracking are in Richmond Va probably out in a UPS truck somewhere. Here is a Pic from June to show the container , Will the container and litttle bit of dirt inside a box keep the roots from freezing ? .

I bought these trees in July on sale , but to get the sale price they had to ship before the end of the year. My ship date was supposed to be 12/30 . I probably should of had them shipped in Oct , but I was Hunting then through 1/4 . Tomorrow is the last day of late Muzzleloader.

That tree will be just fine. Looks like one of those stark cubes, but I dont think theyre in georgia. Willis?

Ive had rootmaker pots freeze up on me rock solid for a week. Forgot about them in the trailer. Planted them in freezing temps, they came out just fine. Also had a couple of bareroot trees I transplanted and temporarily hilled in a pot freeze on me at camp. Too warm inside. They all did fine too.. Water them when you get it, keep in somewhere cool until you can plant it.

Also bought 3 arbovitae from home depot last christmas on sale. Outside for weeks frozen, abused, and dry. Watered them good, let them sit in the basement a night or two to soak that water in, then planted out in freezing temps in a spot probably too wet for them. All 3 are doing ok, not sure if they drawf ones or not, or theyre taking a year to recover. Sure your pear is much better cared for than those.

I got a macoun from star kin a plastic container just like that. Tree is doing ok, not my best growing but going ok. Roots looked like B118. Planted in july. Mentioning this now, might graft a M111 to it and maybe swap out or have a 2nd somewhere at home. Wife's favorite apple long with empire and granny smith. Growing a NY 414, supposed to be a liberty based version of macoun.

That tree will likely a good bit of branches to not that much roots. Mulch that a good bit. Water that every time you get to camp. Begining and end of visit. My macoun only 100 yards from my grafen hose. You may want to prune it back some possibly too.
