FORCE-PRO-S 2.0

TonySoprano

5 year old buck +
So far I have been impressed with my Spypoint FORCE-24 Non Cellular Trail Camera. For a cheap camera (Walmart currently has a 2 pack online for $89.99) they are great !. I only put one out this year , and have 3 more NIB stashed for when I need them. At that price I may even pick up a couple more .

Just curious if anyone has tried a FORCE-PRO-S 2.0 their Solar model ?. I think that might be a great option to put on a field edge or in my tree plot in Video mode and not have to worry about the batteries dying.... in theory.

The solar model has a decent review

While I do not have the Force Pro S, I have several cellular SpyPoints that use the same solar panel. I would anticipate the solar works even better on the non-cell given the reduced demand on the batteries--especially in my fringe cell reception areas.

What I like: I have one Spypoint Micro-Link S that has been in the field for 2.5 years. That one is the anomaly, but it covers a border of the property and does not get lot of critter pictures. It is not in a full sun area, which makes it all the more impressive.

The other ten solar cameras using this panel system have lasted anywhere from 8 months to 2 years without service. Two of the ten have had batteries that no longer take a charge. One was replaced under warranty, the older one was thrown away. On three of these cameras I have had to bring the batteries home and recharge them after high use or poor sun (they recharge using a micro-USB on the older cameras and USB-C on the newer ones).

Pros: No fiddling with external panels, external cables, extra straps; One has been in the field 2.5 years, several over 1 year without touching.
Cons: The cell version solar panels struggle to maintain batteries in high use, mixed woods environments.

The newer SpyPoints (all current models) have much better seals. The older Micro-Link and LM2 models had poor seals.

Thanks for the info , everything I run is non cellular. Typically I like Stealth Cam & Browning cameras for Video mode that cost over $100.00 , anything cheaper than that the nightime video is -usually- junk. . I have not tried my FORCE-24 in video mode yet. I mainly bought it to place 8-9 foot up in a tree on a trail to watch for trespassers. However the video quality in this youtube review looks as good as my more expensive cameras.

No need for it right now , but in the summer I'll probably pick up a Force Pro S 2.0 and give it a try.

Sweet deal. I ran a Spypoint until it died. It was a great camera for 4 or 5 years. The Gardepro deals seem to have dried up, so I'll give these new Spypoints a chance.

Gardepro does have a cellular model on Amazon for $40. I'll read up on the model, but it might be time for me to give the cell cam thing a try.
