Food Plot Costs

Exactly :)

My cost averages out to about 75.00 per acre. That doesn't include gas to go to land.

I install food plots for others 1 to 3 acres on average. My cost is about 500.00 plus per acre depending on planting type etc. . This includes every thing equipment depreciation and maintenance based on life expectancy hours and scheduled maintenance. If you do some checking Midwest farming cost such as Iowa , Wisconsin etc I believe cost to be in 500.00 per acre range also and based on 12.00 per hour labor charge. (ouch).

This is copy of recent Invoice all names removed. It is also the cheapest 1 acre installed out of 22 different areas this year. They range from 800 to 2000 plus if some minor rock removal involved.

If you doing food plots with equipment trucks trailers for transport etc. involved I am confident you are spending 500 to 600 per acre to install if you add everything involved into cost. And that is with no labor cost involved.

I bet I spend a grand an acre, maybe two, by the time I drive back and forth plus owning a second set of equipment! But I do it for the love of doing it, not saving money.

Post where you do your work, some guys may be interested in hiring you! Good Luck!

Thanks

I am retired and I enjoy also do limited amount so does not disturb my Musky Fishing. I do Western WI Buffalo, Chippewa, Trempealeau , Pepin 50 mile radius from Eau Claire.

Could not have better year rain has been great everything green and lush this year.

If I quantified it, I'd slap myself. But, this is the whole reason I bought my land. To improve the habitat, specifically winter food and cover, and to see/harvest more deer. It's really my only vice so I let it slide.

....but I sure get a lot of enjoyment out of doing it and to me that is priceless. My wife has always told me that there are a lot of worse things I could spend money and time on. I look at food plotting as cheap therapy sessions.

X2! :D

...and the smell of diesel and fresh tilled dirt...doesn't get any better than that! Aroma therapy at its' finest:D

Funny thing. I live on a great lake....with good fishing. I am retired. I can go fishing, shooting, play golf, go 4-wheeling, etc, etc......and most often I choose to go work on my land.....over all the other stuff to do. I must be sick? ;) :D
