Foggy's Deertopia Proving Grounds - Happenings

So if I understand the logic, if you are transporting water without a cover or lid, if you put a floating board in the water, it will move less and consequently spill less over the top. Correct?

I don't think the one laying on paper is switch but I think you likely have some there by your hand in the other photo. It'll come Foggy, you're a guy who researches things enough that you would have nailed the older style switchgrass plantings easily enough. The new, improved varieties can have great success without all the prep required from the older varieties. You did everything right, you'll have 4-5' switchgrass next year if you keep the broadleafs out of it.
Exactly Brian.

I think the only way to really mess up the new varieties is planting too deep. If planted at the right depths, any kind of broadleafs can be handled with mowing and the grass will outgrow foxtail or other weeds in year 2 and beyond.

Doesn't need to be wood, but yeah..

When I drive a 150 gallon tank around in my pickup to water trees I always had a few 5 gallon pails floating around, worked great.

I bet another few days like we had (hot) with lots of recent rain.....will show me some rows of switch. I think some of the plants shown are switch......I have just not seen any before to compare. Kinda counting on this switch to change my management plan. Testing my patience. Grin.
