fishing reports

Throw him back. Someone else can have the pleasure. My personal best is 63.5. I don't have a boat for river fishing so we go guided.
I would do the same. I like frying up some small catfish occasionally, but the larger fish get released.

Guys being from Michigan I wouldn't eat a catfish. Great sport fish but no way.

Went king fishing in st joe tonight. Had 2 bites caught one 8 pound king. Both on 400 feet of 45 lb cooper down about 80 feet. If anyone remembers a charger spoon they both hit super chargers

St. Joe, Michigan? My wife has family there. We chartered a boat once and had a blast catching salmon!

Came back from topsail NC. Fished a few days on the pier and a few days on the inlet. Mullets are running there. Wasn't consistent, might be the tail end of the run as they head south. Caught plenty of bluefih n spanish mackeral. Caught severla nice flounder mostly on the sandy beach inlet on outgoing tide. Several kingfish were caught at the pier, on days I wasn't there. Had 2 kingfish trolley rigs out. Got one for the wife over the summer.

Caught a few walleye on n Bitter Lake SD tonight. Only a couple eaters.

Here are my two favorite fish species to eat. Perch and bluegill. These were caught 22 to 35 feet down on ice fishing rods. Great sport

Cme back from naragannset / point judith RI. I stay at the campground a few days and fish for tog. Came back early due to the storm. Friday was good had 3 keeper Tog. Saturday the barometer was dropping and the fish knew it, worked hard to hit a few small ones. No stripers this year. I put a hook about 2.5-3ft above the isnker and put a chunk of squid on it. No takes, no bites, and didnt see any stripers. No albies either. Better luck next year.

Talk about some perch today?

As soon as this crazy wind stops the big boat hits the hard ground. Tough summer. IF the striper show up we’ll take the little center console out. Keeping that in the slip until early December.

Bill how much storm surge do you get from the nor easter?

Bill how much storm surge do you get from the nor easter?

It really depends on the moon and the direction of the storm. Not really worried about this one. We’re on a down moon and the wind is high but not that bad. I pay no attention to climate change. That’s all BS.

20 years ago I put a 10 foot boat into the water in the morning dark to duck hunt in a north Easter. I went a 1/2 mile and knew something was off. Turned back and Pulled the boat. As the sun rose my truck was in a foot of water.

When the sun came up there was no land between the ocean and the bay. Nor Easter’s like this are just history and we deal with them. A real hurricane we worry. Greta Thunberg would say I was lying. But she isn’t from here.

I used to chase those storms with my surf rod...... Wind blowing ashore a little south of a an inlet.

I'd throw a few extra fenders around that dock.

Got an itch to buy another striper boat again. A grady white 20ft with a honda 150 caught my eye for a good deal, just sold. Peeking at boats with slip spots at manaquan inlet again. Only a bit over 2 hours from home. I like hunting, but like fishing more'r. Might do new years in cape may again. Wife needs some indoor pool time. I like going to niagara falls new years for some lower river walleye n steelhead. I get too cold, go back to the hotel for the pool n hot tub.

I took the old boat out to Lanier Sunday to ensure it still runs and to test out the electronics I just put back on it. Have not had it out since April or May if I recall correctly. Primed the bulb and it fired right up and ran great. Unfortunately the lake is in the fall turnover transition, so fishing was a waste of time. November through April / May is my favorite time of year to fish that lake.

Must be staying at the Grand hotel. They're may be others but that’s only indoor pool I know of off hand. They have the best restaurant in town as far as I’m concerned.

Bill so what was the largest fish you landed this year? What was the longest fight you had reeling a fish in?

This was a terrible year. Lots of issues with the boat. Our last trip I was getting low voltage warnings on the chart plotter. It was supposed to be an overnight trip but I called it and headed in. I'm overly cautious when I have a crew on board and we're 60 plus miles from shore.

Biggest fish was about a 40lb tuna. 10 minute fight. Our biggest "all time" was a 250 lb tuna, 3 hour fight on a 30 wide.

I just walked out to the pond and fished for maybe 25 minutes, middle of the day bright sun and stiff breeze.
WOW!!!!
Smallie Palooza…caught at least thirty from 4” to 13” all on Mepps gold spinner #2. Had some misses and some follows…I ripped the lure pretty fast. Only caught smallmouth.
This is exactly what I dreamed of when we put the pond in four years ago. I have no doubt whatsoever that they have spawned the last two years.

Nice non stop action, and everyone was returned to the pond safely.
