First smallie of the season on Sep 1. Wow is that lame to have to admit! New job, new puppy, no time. But dang, that was fun! Got a bunch on poppers the other night.
Bill that's a very interesting rig and action. I am curious if he is making a smaller version for fresh water? Any chance I could set up a call with him?
Bill have you looked into something like a slide diver with oversize ring and weight on it? Also another rig I enjoy is a 45 pound Cooper line that I spool up to 400 feet of cooper and run it behind planer boards or off the side of the boat up to 400 feet back? Another possibility for you would be to use a jettison tripper plastic holder with pin pull out to drop the lead ball on a strike. I have used 2 pound balls to drop.
No he's a local tackle shop here. The one I was pulling is the smallest. He lost his supplier and is experimenting with some different versions. The prototypes I'm dragging I can't post yet. I'll look into a slide diver.
And directional side trackers with movable rudders to make a spread not get tangled when surface fishing. They out riggers help with this. But with side trackers you don’t even need outriggers.
Bill went perch and bluegill fishing tonight. We probably caught over a 100. Kept some Gills and perch. Watched a bald eagle swoop down and grab a crappie. He came back three tines during the night
Manitoulin Island. Didn't manage any salmon or rainbows this year, but got a lot of bass and lakers. It's unseasonally warm this week, so the spawning runs will probably be late.
