Not since Thursday. Our trips will be less now that my son went back to work teaching school. The fall’s winds also seem to have arrive early. N winds make it difficult to get out.
Weather permitting we’re going with another guy from the dock next weekend. He’s going to teach us how to daytime deep drop for swordfish. They say it’s easy once you learn the tricks. Been wanting to learn how for a few years now.
Tried a few times on our own with no luck.

Snagged quite a few 1-3lb bass on topwater today. It's not ocean fishing but I like it!

Fish are fish. Nothing like a large mouth gulping it down and taking a run. If they break the surface all the better. If they jump out of the water and spit your lure it’s even better.
I almost caught I frigging huge large mouth as a kid. He jumped out of the water and sent my rattle trap right back at me.
I spent a week in Panama fishing for a Black Marlin in my quest to catch all nine of the world’s billfish. Took me 8 hours on 120 weight gear to catch an estimated 800 lb fish. We were using ten lb bonito for bait. On the flight home to Arkansas, my wife and I were discussing where we were going crappie fishing when we got home.

I was in a partners bass tournament in the finger lake of New York. Hooked a nice smallmouth that jumped and threw the hook. If I caught we one the tournament but I lost it. That's why its fishing not catching. But I will say I wish I knew more about quality hooks and how to sharpen them back then. Now if it doesn't stick in my nail it's dull.

I hooked one a week or two ago that I'd guess went 6lbs. On it's 3rd jump (full on out of the water, shaking like crazy, sunset in the background) the frog came out. Wasn't unhappy at all that I lost her. She gave a great show!

My mother grew up in Auburn. Spent my summers as a kid literally in and on Owasco lake every day.

Bill all I remember about auburn was that massive prison. I lived in Elmira. We fished in Southern tier bass club. Actually won a team pikeral tournament and got 2nd place in another. As a back seater the boat owner got first place. He said let's get your fish after boating 4 we ran out of gas. Put the trolling motor down and I caught number 5 for 2nd place on way to marina.

says were fishing smallies 20 miles down. Says we will both have limits in an hour. Throws me a helmet and off we go. We're going down Seneca at 55 mph and I say to owner how fast we going. The engine quits at full speed about 15 miles down the lake Like wtf. We fish back towards dock, never catch any and get towed back 5 miles. Ughhh. We look all over and can't find it but an ignition wire fell off. That's why they call it fishing.

That prison ruined the town. Wasn’t there when my mom grew up or when I was a kid. It was supposed to create jobs for all the manufacturing that left. My cousin worked there when it first opened. Back then it was fine.
But a bunch of (politicians) on one side. Decided it was too far from NYC for the inmates families to visit. So they pushed for low income housing. No one visits anyone in prison. But the riff raff took the low income housing.
It’s a shame New York is a beautiful state. Like so many others.

Bill that's really interesting information about auburn and the prison and the politics about it. Ill bet its in shambles now. I made a 8 inch spinney and squid rig combo today for salmon for michigan football. M go blue. Will upload a picture of it tomorrow for you all to see.

Bill its a 8 inch Dreamweaver spin doctor and a 4 inch Dreamweaver squid. I use two squid bodies along with octopus hook and treble hook. This would be trolled at 2.6 to 3.0 mph. They make a 12 inch as well. Is this something that you could use on your boat at that speed?

I just looked up a video of one in use. They spin in an odd fashion. But I guess they draw attention. Not sure it would work at 6 to 7 knots. 7 - 10 mph.
Our teasers are always on the surface. You guys are using down riggers. Not that we never do. But mostly surface action.
I’m working with the guy who invented these things to come up with an improved version.
Did some testing on my last trip. Still needs some tweaking.
