fishing reports

We managed to limit out on the Ontario bass opener before the rain hit. Lost several big ones due to new equipment and bad luck. But we got 15 in the boat. Big filet job this afternoon, and then probably back at it again tomorrow.

Got another limit of smallmouth today. They get some weird coloration when they lay in the bleeding bucket for a while. My nephew managed to learn the spot-n-stalk fishing method incredibly quickly. He got a couple big ones on his own, so we were all proud of him

Nice work on the smallies, those are some chunks. How will you be cooking them up?

Do you fish for anything else up there or are smallies your preferred fish?

Mostly battered and deep fried. It's our standard fish fry meat.

We also fish lake trout, rainbow trout, walleye, pike, and sometimes perch. Depends how busy the summer is. Last year we were roofing and entertaining guests. This year we will be doing a bit more fishing. I expect to get some rainbows and lakers relatively soon.

Trip got cut short. Generator shut down on the way out. Hindsight says it was the overheat sensor. I fired it back up and the sensor must have went haywire. I smelled something burning. Opened an engine compartment hatch above it in time to see the plastic air cleaner melt and fall off the generator. Shut it down and went fishing.

Right at dark I got a low voltage warning on the chart plotter. Engines were still reading 13.6 volts on the alternators but I wasn't risking an over nighter so we headed the 70 miles home..

Still had tuna steaks tonight but I'm not sure when we're going again. I fired up the generator at the dock tonight and it ran and pumped coolant water. But the raw water coolant discharge was full of oil and shut down after 15 minutes.. boats are great...
