FEDCO Trees Experience?

Tree Spud

5 year old buck +
Does anyone have experience with buying and growing trees from FEDCO?

I am interested as well. The Nova Scotia crab looks like a winner

I believe the Nova Scotia Crab is only through Morse. I have one, it's been a great grower, not a great producer.

I've purchased scions and rootstocks from Fedco, and have no complaints in that regard.

I've planted trees from Fedco, and purchased scions and rootstocks. Good experiences overall. I don't think you'll get trees of the same caliper/size from them as you may get from nurseries targeting deer guys. Fedco is organic and doesn't use synthetic N to push growth.

That's right! I was confused thanks! I only have bought scionwood from Fedco and I really have not been that overly impressed

I have plenty of apple trees planted for deer. Looking more for eating/baking and cider apple trees.

Did the trees you purchased have good root development when you received them?

Yes

Fedco is a good choice for people apple trees

Keep in mind that many of Fedco's trees are grafted to Antonovka. That rootstock tends to look carrotlike when young. It dives deep with a tap root and develops side roots later on.

Sounds like a good choice for cold winter climate & sandy soil anchoring.
