Nice. The coyotes are coming thru my property at home almost everyday. Coyote to deer tracks are 4 to 1. My friend thought he had one chew out last week too, I can't believe they can chew thru that cable. I think I received a bad batch one time and had 2 break out very easily. I bought some new ones and haven't lost any so far.We have a major problem with them. I dont have any hard numbers but on camera and through observations I see very few fawns. I threw out a dozen snares last week as well and had one chew out and caught another. I need to get another dozen or two out but its a start.

I'm now using the 3/32 Dakota 7x7 cables that come pre dyed. I like them but don't care for the plastic whammy. The ones I had trouble with were Snare Shop 3/32 7x7. They actually pulled the cable out of the bottom swivel, not were they are supposed to break away. I called the company and the only excuse they could give me was they thought I might of boiled them to long. I wouldn't think that boiling them in water would make them that week, but I guess its possible. What type and size of cable?
Yes, We were just allowed to use cable restraints for the first time maybe 6 years ago. WI has one of the most strict guidelines to follow in the country. I actually like the guidelines on them. It is tough sometimes to find the perfect spot. Some of the rules are they cant be set near anything that would entangle, including shrubs I think larger than a 1/2 inch. They must be set 10-12 inches of the ground, the hoop has a set size, must have a deer hoof stop,a break away j hook of #285 so if by chance a deer would go thru they can just break it, also a relaxing washer that will not kill the animal but works like a choke collar on a dog leash and will loosen up I when they are not pulling. Every year I tell my neighbor that I have coyote traps set on our neighbors farm (1/4 mile away) so don't run your dogs back there. Two years ago he came to apologize for wrecking one of my cables. I caught a nice Weimaraner in one. He released the dog no problem with no injury from the cable restraint. I'm sure the worst part for the dog was that it had a shock collar on it and my neighbor was shocking the crap out of it for not coming back while it was in the cableI dont know your trapping regulations and since you refer to them as "cable restraints" I am guessing you cant set one where entanglement is likely?
