Fallow filed management

DRG3

5 year old buck +
I have a fallow filed that I want to manage without spending any money. I am looking for general wildlife cover and just to obstruct or create a boring view from the road.
Is there any specific combination of discing and mowing I should use?
It’s currently in the first year out of soy beans. I’m really not in a place I feel comfortable burning and don’t want to spend money on herbicide.

Check out this video. I think this is what you are looking for. This is our second year doing this. So far so good. Lots of cover.

This is one of the best podcasts I’ve listened too. I am a huge Dr Harper fan. I highly recommend this.

One thing I did not hear addressed- what is the best time of year to disc a fallow field to set back succession.
