Ha. They are invading everywhere.

Let's get em!

HOOFED STOCK (OTHER THAN WHITE-TAILED DEER and ELK)

  • Exotic, non-native hoofed stock may be hunted year-round.
  • No license is required.
  • No bag limit or checking requirement.
  • Fallow deer are not legal to hunt on Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area.

That deer would be destined for a wall near me. That is cool looking rack. Back when I was doing taxidermy I mounted a buck with antlers that looked like a hand holding a baseball reaching for the sky .... both sides. You could literally set a baseball on both sides. I have printed photos of it somewhere as it was back before I had an I-phone.

He is destined for my wall now. All I have to do is keep him alive 5 more years! 😆

I would be talking with every single neighbor about that dear and doing everything you can to keep it alive for a few more years.

I assume that is the only picture you have of that deer? He just showed up out of the blue.

I was going to say that too. But the few times Ive tried that approach in the past my neighbors stop talking to me. Lol

Yes, that's my only pics, but I saw him in person the last couple of times I hunted a few days ago. Before that I had not seen him or got pics of him. Last year I had a 3 year old that had an unusual amount of palmation but not nearly that much. That deer must have been killed, because I haven't seen him this year.

For a few years I had good luck letting promising deer go and getting them back the next year, but it seems that the last three years my luck has faded. I let two different 150s go last year and got neither one back this year.

One farm near me where a lot of good young deer got killed has been taken out of the equation - it was sold and was covered this year with a bunch of huge chicken houses. I'm not sure of the impact of that yet.

On the positive side it removes a place where good young deer often got shot. On the negative side, it was good cover nearby, and I drew in deer from the farm in the rut. Time will tell. I may not see any difference.
