ACN - Adams County Nursery - here in Pa. sells Evereste crabs for pollination purposes. Check their online catalog. ACN is a big operation that's on Penn State's preferred list of fruit tree nurseries. It's a very select list of growers. ACN gets chosen to try / experiment with new fruit tree hybrids & cultivars offered by fruit tree breeders. Grade A, top-notch nursery. Our camp has a number of their apple trees growing.

Long bloom time, heavy fruiting very disease resistant and sour until after a frost or two hits the fruit it sounds like a very good wildlife crab to add to my deer orchards.

Thanks for the tip I ordered 3 Evereste, 1 Indian summer and 1 Mt Blonc I had to get to 5 trees so I thought I’d try those other two varieties just to fill out the order.

yellow river nursery has red splendor. Several folk on here like prairefire. I planted an Adirondack crabapples and grafted one this past spring. Planted one is doing well, graft never took on the ant rootstock. See how that one does.

Toringo a.k.a siebold might be good for pollinating, but the fruit is like pea sized. Some bird enjoy it. Tried it because its a crabbaple that is known to be a non preferred browse for deer. I have several never caged ones growing fine and rarely nibbled. Also, a small tree. PRetty mich a natural dwarf.

Got 3 places with small bird crabs I am watching. One is a November/december drop, the other two are a january and a February drop. The November one is a cluster of several ones right at my jobs front gate.

I have planted in the last two years Adirondac, red jewel and sugar time at the house mostly for some winter color but also to feed critters.

Snow at camp is not what it used to be. But, when snow gets about 18 inches, the deer leave camp for a nearby lake. Plenty of grouse and snowshoe hares at camp though. Hoping the birds spread the seed and produce natural seedlings as an added bonus.

Thought Adirondack would be perfect for the Adirondacks. Only got one up there right now. Hoping I can get to the tree this late winter for some scion.
