Drury Deercast App

Funny you say that...I tell my kids that I'm going to get a "snatch-chat" account on the "inter-webs" all the time. My boy (22) tells me to go ahead and look that up and see what I find!
You rich kids and your toys... Money's killing this sport :D
I don't embrace technology...I don't even pick it up until after it hits me in the head first!

I got a new phone at work and found out that when I have a certain setting on that when I tell it to take a picture it also takes a short few second video. I had no idea until my kids showed me and my pics started moving! At first I thought I was seeing things!!! Yep - I'm all over tech!!!

Check out the Scoutlook weather app. Gives you weather, scent cone, major and minor times, sun rise and sunset and moon phases for your exact stand location via google maps. Then go hunt.
I gave this a try while sitting in a tree stand. I'm impressed. So far 3 for 3 on the wind cone.

I have done something a bit obsessive over the last three years.

I buy a calendar and track when my hit list bucks show up on camera on the property. I start the process in August and continue thru January. It has showed me what the bucks like to do during the hunting season.

My busiest weeks are near Halloween...usually leading into Halloween versus following. There is also a spike in movement around Thanksgiving.

The Missouri gun season seems to coincide with my bucks leaving. Now, before you say it's pressure driving them off.

I own 67 acres and run 10 cameras, primarily blackouts. My north neighbor has 1200, my west neighbor has 300, my east neighbor has 900, and my south neighbor has 100. There may be 4 hunters on that acreage throughout the season. East neighbor only stick bow hunts and stays way east of me. He is almost 80. My north neighbor is 80 or better and has a couple hunters on him. My west neighbor is an isolationist. He only hunts it. My south neighbor is a non hunter. No hunting.

My farm has had extensive habitat improvements. The others have had none to very little. The north guy did some timber removal for his cattle. That's about it.

I have about 12 does, 6 fawns, and 20 bucks that call my place home. More when there are no acorns. This is big woods country.

Only two people hunt my farm, primarily bow hunting only. We watch the wind, careful about our scent control, and don't intrude much.

So, I believe the bucks hang around my place, pick out a doe and move off to the areas were they can breed in peace. Without watching this stuff and tracking it, I could be using valuable hunting time during low deer density times.

Just wanted to let you guys know that you have tools at your disposal to track how your deer move besides weather apps and such.

I do like deer cast, wunderground, and intellicast. All good tools to deploy to get in the stand at the right time.

To end this with some humor.....after hunting around 12 days I finally got a small buck this past weekend on the last day of firearms season. The Drury app rates the days Bad, Ok, Good, Great. My buck died on the rare Bad day. Ha.

Evidently your buck was not using the App correctly

ADMITTEDLY taking the thread on a semi-related tangent with caveat I know nothing about the Drury app... but when it comes to fishing and ESPECIALLY saltwater fishing I'm a huge believer in solunar forecasts (like I said, know nothing about Drury forecast so don't know if it even factors solunar in).

Even with saltwater fishing other variables DO come into play / can override solunar impact but during steady weather patterns I've seen time and time again major feeding occurring within about 30 minute windows of peak forecasts. I've been tagging cobia for the past 10 year or so and as time has gone by have moved to increasingly targeting prime solunar forecasts and I've sure had lots of good trips / a far better batting average than other local fishermen (many have NEVER caught a single cobia and folks aboard my boat have caught over 100).

All the above said, I have NOT tried to correlate it with any deer activity but will share this COMPLETELY anecdotal observation... when driving back and forth to the coast we have noticed that cattle seemed to be up and eating during quite a few of the good solunar forecast times whereas during the weaker solunar times they seemed to be down chewing cud. That shared, deer on my place seem so locked on to dawn / dusk movement patterns I've just never felt / observed they are as equally influenced so instead have targeted hunting times around cold fronts, favorable wind conditions, rutting behavior, etc. So NOT advocating any forecasts for deer... only saying I ABSOLUTELY DO when it comes to fishing. :emoji_thumbsup:

If you guys use the deer cast app. The guys at dury outdoors are going to give away a 60 acre farm at the end of the year. All you need to do is download and register from the app. Just thought I'd pass along the info.

Now if you wouldn’t have posted this you would have had a better chance of winning!

You can register to win a 60 acre farm on deer cast that they are giving away at end of year
