Double cropping

Would this be double cropping if they all make it?

No - not double cropping, just working hard! That more than likely is a pretty mature doe. First of all she has the ability to actually support 3. Then she has the experience to keep all 3 of them alive to this point.... Now.....she is probably the one you will hear blowing at you come October as well.....so that experience can be a double-edged sword. In any case, it's always nice to see habitat work.....actually working.

You're 100% right about usually a very mature doe. But in this case I'm guessing her 2 or 3 years old. We also have a not so mature doe at our south place with triplets. This one hasn't been blowing yet as she lives across the pond in front of my house. She may be a product of an old doe a few years back that had triplets at least twice.

That is really great to see. Your land seems to be producing the nutrition and genetics needed to really crank out healthy deer.

It would be helpful if you could tell us where you are and why you think you have such success.

I'm in west central IL. Actually I think mother nature is just responding. Last year fawns were not to plentiful. Doe numbers down also. We've had late antlerless seasons off and on. During those years doe numbers have been down. Been at it a long time. We try to hinge cut at least couple of acres every year as well as the normal food plots. I suspect this doe is from a older one few years back that had several sets of triplets. Three ain't always good as one will be a runt. I'm sure that a yote or bobcat will thin this trio.
