Deer Farming

I thought it was discovered the Drurys were doing it on open farms many years ago. Once the cat was out I bet a ton of guys followed. Not guys with 40 acres, but 500+ I'm sure some of these crazed industry guys figure it's worth a shot.
Absolutely it happens…I’ve heard plenty through the grapevine. Disgusting and makes me question everything

OK, if you buy the doe with super genes I can see how she would help you since she was a farm deer not likely to roam far, but seems to me she would still run off her male offsprings.

I don't know if that's true or not and I don't watch the Drury's myself but I think they control an astonishing number of acres. I don't think it's a stretch to think they could find a natural 200 every year.

I never really learned about the intricacies of male fawn dispersal. Such as, do they stay gone forever, or do confident 2 yr old bucks ever return closer to their original home location? And won't following generations of deer wander back towards a guy's original 500 acre farm? I'd assume this stuff is just generalizations.

Seemed pretty accepted that male dispersal would exceed even what most big farms have for acreage?

Imagine that poor freak trying to shed his velvet if they would have let him live longer..

The post stated, “Rocky Ridge Whitetails and Quest Haven Lodge have come together to raise and harvest the largest whitetail to ever walk the planet earth. We give all the glory and praise to Jesus for allowing us to be a part of a harvesting this magnificent animal.

Lots of personalities out there killing way more 200" deer than the Drury's fwiw.

Obviously not counting the hermits of the whitetail world - do you remember when Stan Potts was the 1st guy with (3) 200 inchers, then Adam Hayes passed him with 4? Actually there was a Christenson guy from KS before those guys, and his were all bowkill typicals. But it came to light that he shot them with rifles. Oops. Nowadays it just seems that every hunter in every state is bitching about how bad the hunting has gotten, how it's way worse than the glory days, yet youtube is cranking out 200ish+ sized deer multiple times a day. Yeah there's way more filmers. Just seems something else is going on. Like I said, just my conspiracy. Maybe it's just a surplus of feeders and minerals.

Would any of you be willing to follow me in to the grocery store with my bow and film me stalking a prime rib in the meat department?
If I can't get on something 10lbs or better I will probably stick an arrow in a ham.
This is going to be epic!

Bowmar has 7 or 8 in the past 4 years.
Skip Sligh has several but won't say how many.

I guess I'm not in the camp about the released does due to the dispersal factor but I suppose anything is possible. I think as people run feeders, minerals, and 365 days/year food, I expect deer will respond with bigger racks. Plenty of MSU deer lab stuff showing that rack size can improve 10-20" with TSI, so to think the rest of the stuff is inconsequential would be foolish. Hell, Craig Harper had something last year showing that a guy improved deer inches on his farm (big farm) just by putting lime on his early successional areas to increase tonnage of Giant ragweed and other summer browse species. The sky is the limit.

Oh and I've only been deer hunting seriously for less than 10 years so Stan Potts was a little before my time. Sounds like he was a pioneer though when I hear people talk about him.
