Contempt of Court?

So I get my first ever jury summons this past week & had to report Monday morning. After the defendant entered the room with a 70s porn stache, I assumed guilty. :)

So the judge announces this is a criminal sexual assault case on a minor, i thought to myself, if this guy wanted to be found not guilty why keep the stache? :)

So the few are chosen to sit in the box and the lawyer drills all the jury candidates. He asks, has anyone had friends, family, etc that have been involved with CSC. This older gentleman (in his 70s) raises his hand, he says 'My son was molested 30 years ago'. The lawyer asks him, 'was there any charges filed?', the man replies 'yes i was convicted'.......

If I would have had been taking a drink the person in front of me would not have appreciated the bath. Cuz I started wheezing I was laughing so hard. Could be my personality but the circumstances and they way he said I almost pissed my pants.

Needless to say yours truly was not selected for jury duty. HAHAHAHA!

Typically spouting off something like being a proud supporter of the NRA pretty much does the trick!

My youngest BIL has been selected for jury duty a few times and when he gets asked, the first thing he tells them is that he has been personally questioned by the police and in his experience people are assumed guilty and must prove their innocence, not the other way around. He has never sat on a jury.

I've never been summoned.

The trial process is the only time you get to control the outcome of the laws other people force upon you. Being a juror is the most influence on our rights an individual can have without being elected.

Jury nullification is how we purge bad laws from being enforced. Law says they're guilty, cop says they violated the law - jury says no crime was committed: law is now junk and accused walks!

I want to be on a jury. Especially if it's a case regarding a stupid law.

I'd like to be on the jury for the class-action law suit.....where QDMA tries to defend their practice of overstating their representation in areas where they have no clubs. Like Peqout Lakes MN. Pfffft. GUILTY as charged your honor! Hang 'em high! ;)

Believe it or not a large majority of defendants that choose to go to trial elect a bench trial rather than jury trial. They do this because they feel they stand a better chance of getting a not guilty on a technicality from a liberal judge over 12 members of the public who see through the BS and are so appalled at the allegations that they assume the defendant is a complete dirt bag from day 1.

I got lucky and got out of jury duty becasue I work 3rd shift. I told them over the phone interview that I would be sleeping during the trial as I have worked 3rd shift and slept days for the past 25+ years.

Maybe I am the only person on the planet left, but finding humor in criminal sexual misconduct towards a minor is not something that I find funny. I personally find it very disturbing that someone could find humor in a criminal act towards a child. Tough stance on this thread but I know what I believe in and this is something that I find immoral and sickens me to my core.

I don't want you to take the humor I found as laughing at CSC. It really had NOTHING to do with that, its the fact that the answer he gave was totally unexpected and was ironic given the case at hand.
