Chicory Plots

Has anyone done straight Chicory for a plot? How did it turn out?

I love straight chicory plots. They don’t get touched till September then they get mowed until there is nothing left.

Do you Keep them mowed throughout the summer then?

I did one a few years back. I'm not sure if I planted too thick, but it had some yellowing in areas. Also it may have needed some fertilizer. I think generally it is a good idea to add some clover to the plot to provide some free nitrogen.

Curious why one would want to do straight chicory vs. complimentary blend?

I won a bag of seed and I had a new 1/4 acre plot so I gave it a shot. I have mixed with clover since then.
