I received a letter the other day from Chestnut Ridge of Pike county and today they started taking orders for chestnut seed. I got on their website and it appears to be updated. Just an FYI for those looking for chestnut seed.

They are a great source and I think they are Dunstan hybrid seed? I bought a couple pounds of their eating nuts last year to really get a good try of them and they were great!

looks great H2OF!
I roast mine similarly, but I use a cast iron skillet with a small amount of either coconut or olive oil. Try it. :emoji_yum:

I'll have to try that, I've purchased a couple pounds of the planting ones from them maybe one day I'll have enough to feed deer and me.

Up until recently I had only taste tested a few many years ago, last year we went full out and made them a couple times when we had family all at home. Everyone really liked them, they have a flavor all their own and kind of the texture of cooked cashews...just peel and eat. I was definitely looking forward to ordering more eaters from Chestnut Ridge this fall.
I wonder if they would keep if frozen raw? Can't wait till our trees produce enough for our family and wildlife at the farms.
