Canadian fly in fishing recommendations

I was thinking about doing a Canadian fly in this year. It's been a few years since the last time I went. Does anyone have a place that they have gone and could highly recommend it. Pike and walleye are fine.

It's not a fly-in, anymore, but was. We use to fly in until there was logging in the area. There is now a dirt road allowing a vehicle within a couple hundred yards of the water. There is one cabin on the lake, which is 1300 ac. The outfit also stores 2 boats above the high falls portage, which allows you access to a BUNCH more water. It's the best fishing I've had in Canada or elsewhere. We go for a week every year and rarely see another human. Smallies, Walleye, pike. When I started going 20 years ago, it was fly-in. Message me if interested. I don't mind sharing with folks here, but don't want it plastered all over the interweb either.

I’ve had great luck on Lac Seul in Ontario . It’s drive to, but you catch all the walleyes you want and good size as well.

You can arrange fly ins from there .

I've been on a few fly-ins in Canada and they were always fun...but I dont remember where we went...lol. Everyone around Brainerd brags on the fun they have catching fish at Lac Seul ....as bwoods says above.

No experience, but they have that kind of stuff in the adirnodacks NY and maine too.

Walleye with flies? Never heard of that, guessing you got to do it soon in the spring of wait till fall to get those fish in shallow water.

Gods Lake Manitoba will be my next fly in.

Probably a dumb question, but isn't every place in Canada that you could possibly fly in to and fish, going to be excellent? Is there such a thing as bad body of water up there? Or are people more worried about choosing bad accommodations?

I think fishing wise, every fly in lodge you will have good fishing. They wouldn't do all the work of flying in all the materials for a cabin and investing time of building a remote cabin on a sub par lake. Every lake is different thou. Some lakes you can get a 100 walleye a day but they are on the smaller side. Other lakes you will get less but better quality. I have done a couple fly ins and 4 drive ins. The fly in fishing was definitely better but 2 of the remote drive/ boat in lakes were pretty good also. Our first drive in when we were 18 was a joke. At the time we were short on money and went with the cheapest place we could find. Definitely get what you pay for.

My personal experience with quite a few Ontario fly-ins.

If you want walleyes, go as early as possible. You’ll catch hundreds and hundreds. Most times, the biggest fish are 5-7# but bigger ones too.

Late spring into summer the fishing is still great, but not all concentrated at the nearest incoming River.

Midsummer, I’m not too impressed. Yes, the fish are there but I hate fishing in the heat.

Fall can be tougher to find fish but once you do, it’s like Spring again. I’d rather hunt though.

I don’t fly in for smallies, but they are everywhere there are walleyes, plus many other places too.

I did a late fall fly in for pike one time (not Ontario). Weather was horrible, but lord we hammered big fish.

For BIG walleyes or Muskies, don’t fly in. (Except Lac Seul).

Bucket list. I’d like to catch huge Lakers and giant pike at one of those fly ins in the NWT.
